How to schedule Facebook posts and Reels on your Page
Schedule text, photo, carousel, video and Reel posts to a Facebook Page, add a first comment, and adapt your Instagram version instead of copying it.
A business Page tends to go quiet in the busy weeks, which is when it matters most. The other common problem is posting the same photo twice by hand, once to Facebook and once to Instagram. Scheduling solves both: you write the week's posts in one sitting, and they go out on their own at the times you picked.
Can you schedule Facebook posts to a Page, a profile or a group?
You can schedule posts to a Facebook Page. Publedia connects Facebook Pages only, so personal profiles and groups cannot be scheduled through it.
To connect a Page, you need access to it on Facebook that lets you publish. If someone else set up the Page, ask them to give you that access first.
What you can post to a Facebook Page
| What Publedia accepts | |
|---|---|
| Formats | Text, image, carousel, video, Reel |
| Text per post | Up to 63,206 characters |
| Images | JPEG or PNG, up to 10 in a carousel |
| Video | MP4, up to 20 minutes |
| First comment | Yes |
| Comments in the Inbox (beta) | Yes, you can read and reply |
Publedia checks the Facebook version against these rules when you select Schedule. A caption that is too long or a file Facebook would refuse is caught then, with the reason, instead of on the morning the post was due.
Connect your Page
- Open Channels and select Connect channel.
- Choose Facebook. The tile reads "Page", which is what gets connected.
- Sign in on Facebook's screen and approve access for the Page you want to post to.
Each Page becomes its own channel and counts as one connected account on your plan. The free Basic plan connects 2 accounts, which is enough for one Facebook Page and one Instagram account; the pricing page has the other plans. If more than one Page comes through, open the menu beside the ones you do not need on the Channels page and select Disconnect.
Schedule a post
- Select Create post, then Choose channels, and pick your Page.
- Write the post. With no images or video it goes out as a text post, which Facebook accepts and Instagram does not.
- Add photos or a video from your computer or from Files. One photo makes an image post; two or more make a carousel.
- Check the preview beside the editor.
- Select Pick a time, choose the day and time, then select Schedule.
The post appears on the calendar under Posts, where you can drag it to another day if plans change.
Schedule a Reel
A video posts as a regular video unless you say otherwise. To post it as a Reel, select your Page's avatar above the editor and choose Write a version for this channel. With the video attached, open the format button under the text (it reads Video) and pick Reel or Short.
Add a first comment
On the Page's own version, select Add first comment and type it. Publedia posts it as a reply right after the post goes live. Use it for a detail that would crowd the post, such as opening hours or a note on how to order.
Post to Facebook and Instagram together
You can pick the Page and your Instagram account in the same post. Both use the shared text until you give one of them a version of its own, and they usually need one. Facebook takes text posts and captions of up to 63,206 characters. Instagram needs a photo or video on every post, and its captions stop at 2,200 characters.
A good order: write the longer Facebook post first, then select the Instagram avatar, choose Write a version for this channel, and cut it down to the first line and the essentials. Both versions can use the same photos. The Instagram scheduling guide covers the Instagram side.
Write for people who follow a business Page
- Lead with the useful detail. "Open until 8 p.m. every Thursday in October" gets more attention than "Some exciting news about our hours".
- Put the link in the post. People can tap a link in a Facebook post. Instagram does not make links in captions clickable, so this is one place where the two versions should differ.
- Ask one question people can answer in a few words, such as which of two new flavours to keep. Comments are easier to get when the reply is short.
- Break long captions into short paragraphs. Facebook allows a lot of text, but most people read on a phone, and a solid block gets skipped.
When to post on Facebook
Two large 2026 studies point in different directions. Sprout Social found the strongest times on Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 to 8 p.m., plus Monday from 12 to 1 p.m. Buffer found the best results on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with Thursday at 9 a.m. as the top slot. Both measure in the audience's local time.
For a local business, try one late-morning slot against one early-evening slot for a month and keep the one that does better. For how many posts to plan, see how often to post on social media.
Facebook's own scheduler or a separate one
Meta Business Suite can also schedule posts to your Page, and to Instagram. A separate scheduler is worth it when the same week also goes to other networks, such as TikTok, LinkedIn or X, and you want one calendar for all of them.
After it publishes
Analytics (beta) shows five figures for Facebook posts: impressions, likes, comments, shares and clicks. Comments on your Page's posts arrive in the Inbox (beta), next to comments from Instagram, so you can reply without opening Facebook.
Troubleshooting
- No Page appears after you connect. Your Facebook login needs access to the Page that lets you publish. Ask the Page's owner for it, then connect again from Connect channel.
- A post failed with "Not permitted". Facebook refused the account, usually because you no longer have a role on the Page. Select Check channel, get the role back on Facebook, then open the post and select Retry.
- A photo or video was refused. Facebook takes JPEG or PNG images and MP4 video up to 20 minutes. Swap the file for one that fits. If the post had already failed, select Edit post, change the file, and save.
- The channel says it needs reconnecting. Open Channels, select Reconnect, and sign in again. Scheduled posts are kept while you do it.
For any other failure, fixing a failed post lists every reason and its next step.
Schedule this week's posts
Connect your Page, add your Instagram account if you have one, and schedule the next three posts in one sitting. See how Publedia works for small businesses.
