Later alternatives in 2026 that also post to X and Bluesky

If you need a Later alternative because of X or Bluesky, the choice is short: Later stopped publishing to X on August 28, 2025, and lists Bluesky among the platforms it does not support. Publedia and Buffer both publish to X and Bluesky alongside Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads and YouTube. If Pinterest, Snapchat or Instagram Stories are the reason you use Later, stay with Later or choose Buffer for Pinterest, because Publedia supports none of the three. Later, for reference

Later's help center lists the platforms it supports as Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn, Threads, YouTube Shorts and Snapchat. Its pricing is built on social sets: one profile on each of those eight networks per set.

As of October 2026, its pricing page shows three plans, each with a 14-day free trial:

• Starter: $18.75 a month billed yearly, for 1 social set, 1 user and 30 posts per profile a month.
• Growth: $37.50 a month billed yearly, for 2 social sets, 2 users and 180 posts per profile a month, with the social inbox and content approvals.
• Scale: $82.50 a month billed yearly, for 6 social sets, 4 users and unlimited posts.

Later's plan guide also lists a Free plan, with 1 social set, 1 user and 12 posts per profile a month, but without Instagram Stories, carousels or analytics.

X went in stages. Later stopped new X connections on July 30, 2025, and posts scheduled for August 28, 2025 or later did not publish. Analytics for X stopped on the same day.

What Later still does best

Later started as a visual planner for Instagram, and it shows:

• Visual planning. The Visual Instagram Planner, on every plan, previews how scheduled posts will look on your feed.
• Instagram Stories. Paid plans schedule Stories, and business profiles can auto publish them. Creator profiles get a notification to finish posting in Instagram.
• Pinterest and Snapchat. Image and video Pins on every plan, with click tracking from Growth, and Snapchat Spotlight and public Stories.
• Link in bio. Every plan, Free included, gets a link-in-bio page per social set, with analytics.
• LinkedIn Pages. Later publishes to company and organization pages as well as personal profiles.

If your brand lives on Instagram and Pinterest and X was a minor channel, losing X may not be reason enough to move.

Publedia

Publedia is a publishing workspace for creators, small businesses, in-house teams and small agencies. It publishes to eight networks: X, YouTube, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Threads.

What it does differently from Later:

• X and Bluesky in the same post. Write once, give each network its own version, and schedule them together. The composer counts each version in the network's own units, so an X version is counted the way X counts, and a Bluesky version by graphemes, before you can schedule it. Cross-posting to X, Threads and Bluesky shows how.
• Failures reported per channel. A post goes to each channel separately. If one fails, its row on the post says why and offers one next step, such as Reconnect channel, Edit post or Retry, while the other channels keep their result. See fixing a failed post.
• Automations (beta). Flows that publish from a folder or an RSS feed, draft posts with AI on a schedule or answer comments, with approval steps where you want them. Repost lists (beta) and long-video repurposing come with the Ultra plan and up.
• AI apps over MCP. Workspace keys come in three presets: read only, drafts (a person schedules them) and full control. See connecting an AI app.
• YouTube videos as well as Shorts.

Limits to know before you switch:

• No Pinterest, Snapchat, Instagram Stories, visual feed planner or link-in-bio page.
• LinkedIn publishing is to personal profiles only, not company pages.
• Bluesky takes text and up to 4 images, but not video.
• Posts to X count against a monthly allowance: 5 on Basic, 15 on Pro and 60 on Ultra. A workspace that connects its own X app is not capped.
• Analytics and the inbox are in beta, and LinkedIn reports no metrics to Publedia yet.

Plans include a number of connected accounts, and the scheduled post allowance counts posts across the workspace, so one post sent to five channels counts once. Paid plans cost nothing during the current preview; the prices below are list prices.

Buffer

Buffer charges per channel, and its channel list covers most of what Later and Publedia cover between them: X, Bluesky, Instagram, Facebook Pages, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Threads, LinkedIn profiles and pages, Pinterest, Mastodon and Google Business Profile. Snapchat is not on it.

As of October 2026, the Free plan covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel at a time. Essentials is $6 per channel per month billed monthly ($5 billed yearly), and Team is $12 ($10 billed yearly) with unlimited team members and approval workflows. Rates fall after 10 channels.

• Consider it if you need Pinterest and X together, or LinkedIn company pages alongside Bluesky.
• Think twice if you run many channels: per-channel pricing grows with each one you add. Publedia vs Buffer works through the numbers.

What it costs at a few sizes

• One brand on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and X: Later Starter covers the first three, but not X. Buffer Essentials is $24 a month billed monthly for 4 channels. Publedia's free Basic plan covers 2 accounts, so four means Pro, at $24.99 a month ($19.99 billed yearly) for 5 accounts.
• Two brands, eight channels, two people: Later Growth is $37.50 a month billed yearly, without X or Bluesky. Buffer Team is $96 a month billed monthly. Publedia Ultra is $39.99 a month ($29.99 billed yearly) for 15 accounts and 3 seats.

Later counts posts per profile, Buffer's paid plans have no scheduled post cap, and Publedia counts posts per workspace: 100 a month on Pro.

Moving from Later to Publedia

1. Create a workspace and connect your accounts from Channels. Publedia has no social sets: each account is one channel, and a workspace can hold one brand or one client.
2. Recreate next month's posts in Create post, adding X and Bluesky versions where you want them. Move them by hand, a week at a time.
3. Keep Later running for Pinterest, Snapchat or Stories if you still need them, and let its queue run out on the networks you have moved before you disconnect them there, so nothing goes out twice.

How to choose

1. List your networks. Snapchat or Instagram Stories means Later. Pinterest with X means Buffer. X or Bluesky without Pinterest opens all three.
2. Count channels and people. Social sets suit brands on many of Later's networks at once. Per-channel pricing suits a few channels. Plans with accounts included suit many channels.
3. Name the one thing you cannot do without, such as a visual feed planner, per-network checks before scheduling, or automations, and shortlist the tool that does it.
4. Try both on real accounts for a week. Later and Buffer have free plans and 14-day trials, and Publedia's Basic plan is free.
